1 400g tin of black beans (230g net weight)
25g of porridge oats
3 teaspoons of tomato ketchup
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
A few squirts of tabasco sauce (if you like it spicy)
Drain the black beans and put them into a bowl. Mash with a potato masher. If you don’t have a potato masher you can use a fork. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix everything together. Form into 3 to 4 quite flat burger patties.
Put the burgers on a tray in an oven pre-heated to 200 degrees Celsius (390 fahrenheit). Cook for 10 minutes, then turn the burgers over and cook for another 8 minutes. That’s it, they are ready. Serve in a wholemeal burger bun with whatever you like, some ketchup, sliced tomato, chopped onion, etc.
The photo below shows the batch made from the above quantity of ingredients. The attempt at the smiley face shows that you don’t need talent to make them.
